Well this was an interesting one! confronted with some steep gradients which needed digging out ready for a garage build and a seating area further up the garden, all the material , some 250tons was relocated at the top of the garden to level up the sloping gradient, all topsoil saved and spread back over and seeded down.
A worn out back garden was transformed into a much more pleasing looking space by stripping out the old lawn and path, decorative chippings installed over the correct sub-base using two different colours to define the path and make the whole area more maintenance free.
Existing shingle driveway was removed along with 75mm of sub-base, a permeable membrane was installed and 50mm of Type 1 was spread and compacted, this was topped off with 20mm Quantock stone chippings for the finished surface.
The garage was getting a lot of surface storm water entering the garage as its at the bottom of a gradient, aco drains where installed across the threshold and piped into storm crates buried into the ground.
Due to a large conifer shrub damaging the existing pipework from the downpipe by completely filling it with roots , the whole lot had to be taken out and renewed, removing the culprit shrub along the way, all reinstated.
Old mixed Concrete slabs removed and new indian sandstone mixed size slabs installed with a new sub-base
An area of scrubland was cleared at the back of the courts to seed down and make a usable space
An unused area in the garden was turned into a store area for garden use, the sloping ground was levelled up by installing a lower sleeper retaining wall below the new fence line, the area was trimmed out and gravel grids over a membrane were used as a firm but permeable base topped off with 14mm shingle
Two jobs in 1! An awkward bank to maintain was corrected by digging out and back to install a Marshalls Croft Dry stone retaining block, this also created extra parking space to the driveway.
Extra Parking was required, so a bay was created using timber edge boards , type1 sub-base topped off with quantock 20mm chippings
