Rather hot! on this one, all existing joints ground out from an existing patio i laid 9 years ago, re-pointed in a strong 3-1 mortar mix to last a for a good few years again.
A worn out back garden was transformed into a much more pleasing looking space by stripping out the old lawn and path, decorative chippings installed over the correct sub-base using two different colours to define the path and make the whole area more maintenance free.
All old joints removed, cleaned out and re-pointed to give this lovely York stone crazy paving a fresh look
Existing shingle driveway was removed along with 75mm of sub-base, a permeable membrane was installed and 50mm of Type 1 was spread and compacted, this was topped off with 20mm Quantock stone chippings for the finished surface.

An unused area in the garden was turned into a store area for garden use, the sloping ground was levelled up by installing a lower sleeper retaining wall below the new fence line, the area was trimmed out and gravel grids over a membrane were used as a firm but permeable base topped off with 14mm shingle
A narrow entrance driveway was widened with a strip of charcoal block paving to make it easier to park two cars side by side and still open the doors!
A privacy trellis was erected to help keep the garden a little more private.
Such an improvement!
The property is a new build some 18 months ago and of course the developer only landscape to a basic functional layout….this didn’t suit an existing customer of mine at all when the property was purchased, so a complete makeover was instrumented front and back, the customer had a clear vision of what they wanted and a local landscape designer came up with a plan to which i carried out with a few tweeks to suit,, Final look was quite amazing giving the limited space.
Old crazy paving path ripped out and replaced with a charcoal riven slab, the existing patio was lifted and correctly relaid.
Complete makeover using sandstone paving and a raised bed with new turf
